Case study: A background investigation to inform a litigation strategy
Experience/Former Partner’s Unfair Suit for Fair Share

Former Partner’s Unfair Suit for Fair Share

A well-known financial figure was sued by a former partner who claimed that he had been cheated out of his fair share of their company, which the partner claimed was worth over a billion dollars.

Nardello & Co. was retained to conduct an investigation of the partner and determine if the partner had been assisted or sponsored by the client’s long-time business adversaries.

The background investigation included a review of all government records obtained by the former partner through Freedom of Information Act requests and a detailed examination of the former partner’s publicly available blogging activity.

Nardello & Co. determined that the former partner had been in regular contact with the client’s adversaries and was likely assisted by them in filing the lawsuit. We also identified other “allies” of the client’s adversaries who were sources of information for the former business partner.

These findings informed the client’s litigation strategy and the suit was eventually dismissed by the trial court.
