Case study: Query into corruption allegations
Experience/Relationship with Agent in China Preserved

Relationship with Agent in China Preserved

On behalf of a publicly traded Fortune 100 company, one of our Managing Directors supervised an inquiry regarding a significant third-party consultant relationship that a prospective acquisition target maintained with an agent in China. While some recent press reports had loosely connected the agent to a public corruption investigation by Hong Kong authorities, we determined that the specific allegations at issue did not implicate the agent and did not give cause for concern either from a reputational or compliance perspective.

Armed with these findings, the deal team was able to better assess the risk associated with the agent, undertake additional precautions and proceed with the transaction.
