Uber’s Spy Hire Shows Ethical Blowback For Lawyers

At Uber’s headquarters in San Francisco on March 22, Todd Egeland, a managing partner at global investigative firm Ergo, found himself lost.

To his great embarrassment, he later recalled in deposition testimony, the former CIA chief strategy officer wandered around for half an hour in search of the right building. By the time he reached it — a building where he was to meet with two Uber directors — he had time for just a short meeting.
