Chris Ribeiro is a Managing Director and the head of Nardello & Co.’s New York office. He has two decades of experience conducting sophisticated fact-finding and intelligence-collection investigations for government agencies, law firms, multinational corporations, investment funds, and nonprofit organizations.

• EXPERIENCE PRIOR TO NARDELLO & CO.

  Prior to joining Nardello & Co., Chris worked for nine years at a global corporate intelligence and investigations firm in New York, starting as a senior practitioner and case manager and rising to the position of head of business intelligence for the Americas. Chris also worked for several years as the company’s director of research, building a team of researchers for the investigations and risk advisory practice, and as chairman of the company’s learning committee.

  Before his private sector experience, Chris spent a decade in government in the national security realm, focused on counterproliferation, counterterrorism, and counterintelligence. Chris started his career at the Central Intelligence Agency, where he served as an intelligence analyst and daily intelligence briefer to the National Security Council, Department of State, and National Nuclear Security Administration.

  Chris subsequently worked for the Intelligence Division of the New York City Police Department, supervising intelligence analysts responsible for investigations of terrorist threats. While at NYPD, Chris coordinated reviews of counterterrorism investigations to identify gaps and formulate investigative plans, promulgated advanced analytic techniques, and served as the daily intelligence briefer to the NYPD Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence.

  Finally, Chris began his career at the Department of Energy, investigating and evaluating espionage, terrorism, and insider threats to the department, producing both strategic risk assessments and tactical reporting.

• On behalf of a prominent institution whose employees were being targeted by a virulent online harassment and threat campaign, Chris led a multi-month engagement providing risk advisory services including online threat monitoring, attribution research into anonymous threat actors, outreach to social media platforms hosting threating content, preparation of materials for law enforcement referral, and online privacy screening for impacted employees. Under Chris’ supervision, investigators monitored threat streams across a range of social media platforms and deep web and dark web forums, identified and assessed hundreds of potential threat actors, and tracked evolving physical security concerns and false narratives related to the client. Chris worked with the client’s senior leadership and external counsel to assess and mitigate threats and provide briefings to government agencies in support of their response.
• Chris managed a sprawling, multi-jurisdictional investigation focused on several individuals who were making spurious claims against a senior executive. Detailed public records and media research in several countries and languages identified the subjects, mapped their network of contacts and prior business endeavors, and exposed connections to potential fraudulent behavior and previous campaigns targeting other prominent individuals, providing counsel context in support of advising the client on a prospective response.
