Nardello & Co. was retained by counsel for an energy company with activities in Latin America that was under investigation for potential FCPA violations related to energy projects in Venezuela. We conducted in-depth open source background investigations into nearly a dozen potential government witnesses and others who had leveled accusations of alleged misconduct against the company.

Our research found that many of these individuals had links to the political opposition in Venezuela, which may have influenced their claims against the client who was perceived to be affiliated with the current regime. We also conducted a thorough review of documents related to the client’s projects.

The findings from our background investigations and document reviews informed the client’s legal strategy and its presentation to prosecutors.
