Nardello & Co. was retained by a large US transportation firm to conduct FCPA due diligence on potential joint venture partners in a multibillion dollar project in the Middle East. While no specific FCPA issues were identified, it was determined that some members of the joint venture team were suspected of involvement with terrorist funding through Islamic charities.
Using an extensive array of sources within the Middle East and the US, and through analysis of available public records, we were able to separate fact from fiction so that our client could make an informed decision about whether to move forward on the deal. With our findings in hand, our client addressed the issue with certain members of the joint venture team. The problematic members were immediately removed from the team and the deal was able to proceed.
